Your employees are driving to customers in that winter weather. Here are some tips to keep them safe while keeping customers warm this winter.
When driving on ice:
- Decrease your usual speed to avoid skidding or collisions.
- Give yourself at least three times more space to break from the vehicle in front of you.
- Use low gears to keep traction, especially on hills.
- Use extra caution on bridges, as they tend to get icier.
When driving in snow:
- It is important for your truck to sport snow-traction tires, as other tires are inadequate on snow-covered streets.
- Overturning the steering wheel can lead you to lose control of your vehicle. Make sure you minimize your steering radius to avoid collisions.
- Watch for black ice, snow can hide this road terror. Gently break over any questionable terrain and avoid hazardous areas as much as possible.
In case of an emergency:
Have a spare, inflated tire and necessary tire-changing equipment: a shovel, jumper cables, a bag of salt or kitty litter, and an ice scraper and snow brush.
